Some stuff that happened.

Posted by cathedralofshit on June 1, 2010

Hi. Sorry to have been a little slow of late. We all got a variant of swine-flu. A type described as ‘latent, slow-moving and often dormant’ – frighteningly in keeping with our blogging. Morale sure is low here in the CoS offices.

News in from a mole at Haunch of Venison has informed us that Harry Blain and Graham Southern are jumping ship from Haunch of Venison. The gallery is also heading back to its original home in early 2011. What will happen to what was the Museum of Mankind is yet to be mentioned anywhere.

Our chirpy insider also added; “every minute I have to spend in this place makes me want to die”.

We, here at CoS are very excited. Who will they reopen with? We’re hoping Bill Viola or Rina Banerjee. Or both. A collaborative show.
What a dream.

I was surprised not to see HoV’s fucking excruciating ‘mythologies’ show in the shortlist for your ‘most ridiculous idea for an exhibition’ award. Do you remember the Borges quotes unapologetically plastered onto the walls? Viola’s cosmic golden showers? It made me want to eat my own face.

ps. at least http://www.rinabanerjee.net/ leads to an eerily blank page these days

Get well soon and keep up the good work. Only art blog worth reading!

I wondered if Haunch hadn’t over-reached, internationally. No-one talks about the art world recession in London, I suppose because it pales in comparison with the rest of the economy. But I’m constantly amazed at the way so many galleries survive.

The Haunch stable could do with trimming, while they’re about a little retrenchment. I’d dump Viola’s sad old kitsch efforts to make video painting (or painting video). Honestly! And pick up someone like Jem Cohen.

I mean if we’re doing movies, let’s drop the posing chaps.
